Dow Jones industrial average rises above 12,000
The Dow Jones industrial average is surpassing 12,000 as investors shrug off weak earnings results and focus on President Barack Obama's call to overhaul corporate taxes.
The average climbed to 12,006 early Wednesday. The last time it closed above 12,000 was June 19, 2008.

'Green Hornet' stings box office with $34M debut
"The Green Hornet" is buzzing away with the top spot at the weekend box office.
The tongue-in-cheek superhero film starring Seth Rogen as a playboy-turned-crimefighter earned $34 million during its opening weekend, according to studio estimates released Sunday. Sony Screen Gems' "Green Hornet," which was directed by indie auteur Michel Gondry, shot down Paramount's "True Grit," the Western that reigned supreme the previous weekend.

Apple's next iPad and iPhone may ditch the home button in favor of multi-touch gestures, according to rumors reported by various news websites and blogs.
Speculation and rumor over what may or may not be included in Apple's next-generation devices, particularly its iPads and iPhones, seems to never let up. One of the biggest Apple rumors, the Verizon IPhone, became fact on Tuesday after years of speculation that the carrier would get the hugely popular smart phone.
Doctors Amputate Zsa Zsa Gabor's Right Leg
Doctors in Los Angeles say they have successfully amputated most of Zsa Zsa Gabor's right leg. They say Friday's surgery at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center was successful and the 93-year-old "Moulin Rouge" and "Queen of Outer Space" star is recovering.
Gabor had an infection in her leg for several months and doctors tried using antibiotics to save the leg. She was hospitalized Jan. 2.
Publicist John Blanchette says the wound wouldn't heal, making the surgery necessary.

Kate Hudson is 14 weeks pregnant, expecting a baby with boyfriend Mathew Bellamy, the frontman of the band Muse.
This is a second child for the actress, 31, and the first for Bellamy, 32. Ryder, the actress' son with ex-husband Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, is 7.

Seattle stuns New Orleans 41-36 in NFC playoffs
For a team that was the joke of the NFL playoffs, look who’s laughing now.
Pete Carroll, Matt Hasselbeck(notes) and a Seattle team no one believed deserved to be in the postseason pulled off one of the biggest upsets with a 41-36 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints on Saturday.

Nas Is Half the Man He Used to Be
According to legal docs filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Nas must now pay a tad over $5,000 a month in child support and $20,000 a month in spousal support.
It sounds like a lot, but Nas was paying twice that until he convinced the judge the bad economy has even hit the rap biz hard.
So this month, Nas pockets an extra $25k for himself.

According to one law enforcement source, the investigation into the 13-year-old unsolved case was "reinvigorated" months ago as a result of new information, but the source would not elaborate further because of the ongoing investigation that includes the Los Angeles Police Department, L.A. T.I. Gets A Prison Punishment For Trying To Get Freaky With His Wife
T.I. got in some serious trouble with prison officials this weekend after guards caught the inmate in Arkansas getting “freaky” with his wife during visiting hours!
T.I.’s wife Tiny confirms … the two were in a room together during regular visiting hours at Arkansas State Prison when Tiny decided to give her hubby a little feel under the table.
According to prison guidelines, inmates are allowed to kiss and embrace at the beginning and at the end of a visit as well as hold hands — but “the inmate’s hands must remain in plain view of Visiting Room staff at all times.”
Tiny tells us T.I. was immediately reprimanded and sent to a “Special Housing Unit” — which consists of more security and less freedom.
Tiny says she hasn’t spoken to T.I. since the incident — but she’s hopeful she’ll be allowed to visit again soon … as long as she keeps her hand to herself.

After latest rehab, more uncertainty for Lohan
Whether she's in or out, Lohan faces an uncertain career and looming legal issues. For months, she's been haunted by her inability, or unwillingness, to shake the drunken driving case that resulted in Lohan's two separate trips to rehab and jail in 2010.
And now she also remains under investigation for alleged misdemeanor battery on a Betty Ford worker and needs to satisfy a criminal judge that she's been in compliance with her probation terms during her stint at the center.
